About the center

kilimanjaro development center

Kilimanjaro Development Center is a tree planting and educational project that was officially initiated in November 2022.

The project revolves around tree planting, the establishment of an outdoor learning centre, sports activities as well as allocating space for supplementary crops that can provide a source of food and income.

The project has a disposal of 10 acres of land, situated in Loitokitok, Kenya.

Arrangement of activities
PDAid Foundation and The Big Climb, two independent non-profit organizations (NGOs), will arrange the various activities on the land. Each NGO has a collaboration agreement with Kilimanjaro Development Center, stipulating that they may use the land for activities that are in line with the scope of the two NGO’s general activities, thus with a specific focus on education and sports activities.

Please see here some illustrations of the Kilimanjaro Development Center made by Danish architectural firm, Caspersen & Krogh.
The center is planned to be built in a circular shape around a central atrium, and it will consist of a classroom, a staff room, kitchen facilities, storage, cabins and toilets. There will be outdoor breakout areas and space nearby for fruit trees and vegetable patches.
